Nissan Note (2014)

Overview

The 2013 Nissan Note represents a bold step forward in Nissan’s small car lineup, blending advanced technology, stylish design, and everyday practicality. First unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013 and launched across Europe later that year, the Note was developed to meet the evolving needs of B-segment buyers who wanted more than just a conventional hatchback. With influences from Nissan’s popular Juke and Qashqai models, the Note brings premium features and clever innovations into an affordable, family-friendly package.

Design & Build

Built on Nissan’s lightweight V-platform, the Note features a sporty yet practical design. Its aerodynamic bodywork includes distinctive character lines, sculpted headlamps, and bold rear styling. European versions were fine-tuned at Nissan’s Technical Centre in the UK and Spain, ensuring a perfect fit for regional tastes and driving conditions. Production took place at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK, following a major investment in advanced facilities.

Interior & Comfort

Inside, the Nissan Note impresses with intelligent packaging and family-focused design. The cabin offers generous legroom, particularly in the rear, with rear doors that open to nearly 90 degrees for easy access. High-quality materials, a driver-friendly dashboard, and clever storage solutions such as a double-deck glovebox add to everyday convenience. The boot space is versatile, featuring a sliding rear bench and Nissan’s Karakuri multi-level floor system, allowing owners to maximize luggage capacity effortlessly.

Technology & Safety

Nissan equipped the Note with several first-in-segment features, including the Safety Shield system, which combines Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Moving Object Detection. These systems rely on a rear-mounted wide-view camera with a unique wash-and-dry cleaning system to ensure clear visibility. The Note also offers Nissan’s Around View Monitor, providing a 360-degree bird’s-eye view for safer parking. Connectivity is handled by NissanConnect, an advanced infotainment system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth, USB/iPod integration, and Google™ Send-to-Car services.

Engine & Performance

The 2013 Nissan Note offered a choice of efficient powertrains:

  • 1.2L petrol (80PS)

  • 1.2L supercharged DIG-S petrol (98PS)

  • 1.5L dCi diesel (90PS)

All engines came with start/stop technology, achieving CO₂ emissions as low as 95g/km. Buyers could choose between a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic on select models. With a chassis specifically tuned for European roads, the Note provided agile handling, a smooth ride, and excellent maneuverability in city driving.

Trims & Features

Three trims were available: Visia, Acenta, and Tekna. Even the base model included stop/start, six airbags, and cruise control. Acenta added air conditioning, Bluetooth, and extra comfort features, while Tekna models came equipped with Safety Shield, Around View Monitor, premium trim, and 16-inch alloys. Optional packs such as the Family Pack (with sliding rear seats and Karakuri board) and Dynamic Styling Pack allowed for further customization.
