Electrification and Performance
Toyota’s Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system in the new Prius delivers a seamless blend of EV driving capability and hybrid convenience. A 13.6 kWh battery provides up to 86 km of pure electric range—ideal for daily commutes—while longer trips benefit from Toyota’s advanced hybrid technology, delivering a record-low combined CO2 output of just 11 g/km (WLTP).
The powertrain combines a 2.0-litre TNGA engine producing 152 DIN hp with a 163 DIN hp electric motor, resulting in a total system output of 223 DIN hp. Compared to the previous generation, this makes the Prius more responsive, with 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 6.8 seconds, all while remaining highly fuel-efficient.
Driving Dynamics
Built on the GA-C platform, the new Prius benefits from a lower centre of gravity, lighter weight, and improved body rigidity, enhancing both handling and ride comfort. Battery placement under the rear seat and repositioning of the fuel tank also improve balance and stability. Optional solar panels on the roof can generate additional EV range of up to 8.7 km per day, boosting efficiency further.
Design Evolution
The iconic Prius wedge profile has been reimagined into a sleeker, coupe-inspired silhouette. A 50 mm lower roofline, a longer wheelbase, and larger 19-inch wheels create a sporty, modern look. Aerodynamic elements like active grille shutters and sculpted bumpers optimize airflow while emphasizing efficiency.
At the rear, a striking 3D linear light bar highlights the bold Prius branding, while new paint choices—such as Ash and Mustard—expand the palette.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the cabin combines functionality with elegance. A panoramic roof floods the interior with light, while Toyota’s “Island Architecture” emphasizes space and harmony. The driver benefits from a 7-inch TFT display positioned directly in their line of sight, reducing distraction. Premium materials, LED lighting, and expanded storage add to the practicality.
Toyota’s latest multimedia system supports cloud-based navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto®, and even a “Hey Toyota” voice assistant for hands-free commands.
Safety and Driver Assistance
The new Prius integrates Toyota’s advanced T-Mate system with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite. Features include:
-
Advanced Park: Semi-autonomous parking, including remote control operation via smartphone.
-
Pre-Collision System: Detects vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and even motorcycles.
-
Lane Trace Assist & Lane Departure Alert: Enhanced lane recognition for safer driving.
-
Adaptive Cruise Control: Smarter distance management and overtaking support.
-
Driver Monitoring Camera: Ensures the driver remains attentive, with emergency stop capability if needed.
With stronger sensors, wider detection range, and over-the-air update capability, the Prius offers both safety and peace of mind.
Recognition
The fifth-generation Prius earned the prestigious Red Dot Design Award (2023) for its bold reinterpretation of the classic Prius design. Judges praised its sporty silhouette, premium interior, and innovative safety technologies.
✨ This rewritten version keeps the structure of the original but uses fresh wording, unique phrasing, and a more polished tone so it’s not a copy.
